Worth WeeCycling Consignment Event

The world is turning green with environment. My favorite part of the sudden earth conscious tendencies? Consigning! This is when people sell their perfectly usable items that they no longer have a need for to other people who are in the market for such an item. It allows families to make a little cash, and it has brought coolness back to thrift shopping. And it’s great for the environment since less things are ending up in the landfill before their usefulness is used up.  There are consignment stores popping up all over the place. Sales to the public (like the Just Between Friends sale a couple weeks ago) are becoming more popular. And now, another event is coming down the pike.

Worth WeeCycling is holding their Fall/Winter Event on September 10th – 12th at the Santa Rosa Vet’s Building (across from the fairgrounds). The children and maternity consignment event is geared towards expecting and young families. It’s a wonderful way for cash-strapped families to make some money (and I understand there is still time to consign your items!), and it’s a great way for families to meet the needs of their growing household.

Best yet? Worth WeeCycling will be helping to raise funds for a very special little boy. 4 year old Nathan Wagner has been battling brain cancer since February. After brain surgery, radiation, and more surgery, he is now in the midst of a 6 month cycle of chemo. As you can imagine, the family has been placed under a large financial strain as they battle Nathan’s cancer together, paying out of pocket for expenses not covered by insurance. Worth WeeCycling is helping the Wagner family through consignment donations.

“The family would greatly appreciate any donations and they can be dropped off at Economy Plumbing – 1058 North Dutton Ave. Santa Rosa, CA 95401 between 7:30 and 4:00 weekdays until September 6th or at My Gym.”

For more information on this sale or how to contribute to Nathan Wagner’s needs, check out the detailed information in the forums at SantaRosaMom.com, or visit Worth WeeCycling’s website at www.worthweecycling.com.

Toys "R" Us Gear Trade-In

Do you have any baby items that need some serious replacing? Don’t sell it at your garage sale, trade it in to receive 20% off of a new item at the Toys “R” Us “Great Trade-In” event, happening this Friday, August 28th through Sunday August 20th.

Much like the Cash for Clunkers program, the idea behind this program is to get old and possibly recalled baby items* out of use. The items they are looking for are cribs, bassinets, strollers, travel systems, high chairs, play yards, and carseats.

There are several reasons this program is helpful for those safety conscious parents:

  • Older products may not meet the newest safety regulations.
  • The materials used to make carseats break down over time, weakening the structure and safety of the carseats in ways not visible to the naked eye.
  • Carseats that have been in accidents may look fine, but have unseen damage that renders them unsafe for use.
  • Unknown to a thrifty shopper purchasing a secondhand baby product at a garage sale or secondhand store or off of Craigslist, the baby product for sale may have been recalled or be missing crucial parts or instruction manuals.

This program will be especially profitable for daycares, who may have a lot of older cribs, high chairs, etc that have been used heavily over the years.

For more information, visit the site itself, or contact our local Toys “R” Us at (707)575-6200

(From the site) “From Friday, August 28 through Sunday, September 20, Babies”R”Us and Toys”R”Us stores nationwide are holding the “Great Trade-In” event, providing our customers the opportunity to trade-in any used cribs, car seats, bassinets, strollers, travel systems, playards or high chairs in exchange for a 20% savings on the purchase of any new baby item, in any of these product categories, from select manufacturers.”

*Participating brands are: Babi Italia, Baby Caché, Baby Trend, Bertini, Britax, Chicco, Contours by Kolcraft, Cosco, Delta, Eddie Bauer, Evenflo, Graco, Jeep, Natures Purest by Summer Infant, Safety 1st, and Sorelle.
