Celebrating Nepalese culture, the Katmandu Fall Festival is a benefit for the Children’s Medical Aid Foundation. Enjoy the many cultures of Nepal, India and Tibet with exotic food, world music, and ethnic dance performances. The event is kid friendly, and is even located near a playround. Located at Depot Park, 270 1st St. W in Sonoma.
Free Grandparent’s Day at the Zoo
Sunday Sept 13th, 10 am – 4 pm
Sunday will be free for all grandparents, from opening time at 10 am until the zoo closes at 4 pm. But here’s a secret tip: Bring in any type of hand-colored picture of a zoo animal – one for each child and you’ll all get in FREE. For more information, call (415) 753-7201.
Saturday Farmer’s market
Saturdays (and Wednesdays) 8:30 am – 12 noon

When we’re able to, this is one of the kids and my favorite things to do on a Saturday morning. Just the sight of wonderfully colored veggies at all the booths is enough for inspiration for that night’s dinner. And it’s a great way to get the kids motivated to eat their veggies. The Santa Rosa Farmer’s Market is open on Wednesday and Saturday mornings 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. It’s located in the Veterans Bldg East Parking Lot 1351 Maple Ave. For more info, email mail to:foodandfarm@hotmail.com.
Do you have or know of a family event that you want other moms to know about? Email me at crissi@santarosamom.com by Wednesday to make it into Friday’s blog of “Best Bets for the Weekend”.
On the 13th, from noon to 4pm, there will be a human chess game in courthouse square in Santa Rosa. This is a free event, and kids are encouraged to try their luck at a game of chess.
Thanks for the heads up Heather! That sounds like a blast! If anyone else knows of events going on this weekend that I missed, please share them with us here in the comments. It would be much appreciated!
