SantaRosaMom.com Recap 5/12

There's more going on behind your teen's moodiness.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week so far. Have you visited the forums? This week, there’s been talk about ways to protect your baby from the sun, underage Facebook users, and some fun events coming up. Here’s a bit more of what’s going on at SantaRosaMom.com:

Mom outraged about Sex Book
When a 10 year old girl brought home a book about her body, her mother was floored – especially finding that her child was able to learn about things like masturbation without any parental consent. And now she’s fighting the school on sex books being on the shelves of the school library.

Middle School Madness
Our household doesn’t have little kids anymore, but we are entering the phase of the middle school teenager – and it’s rough! But beyond all the anger and stubbornness is a teen that’s fighting a larger battle among peers and through the awkwardness of growing up. Read more about it, and share your own stories of Middle School and being 13 years old.

25 manners kids should know
This week is National Manners Week. Seriously, I don’t make this stuff up. And to celebrate, I’ve listed 25 manners every kid should know. Can you think of any others?

First Kiss
A video on YouTube of a 5 & 6 year old sharing their first kiss has brought in about 7 million views and counting – and may possibly be the cutest thing you’ve ever seen. Do you remember your first kiss?

Chocolate Milk Ban
An LA school district is about to ban all flavored milks, and parents are up in arms. Some claim their children won’t drink milk unless it’s flavored. If the schools around here banned flavored milks from their menu, would you consider that a good thing, or a bad thing? Will your child drink un-flavored milk?

Have a wonderful week, and I’ll see you on the forums!

  1. 144 high school exchange students from France, Norway, Sweden, Spain and Russia will be visiting Sonoma County June 23-July 19. We still need some homes for them. Come on Sonoma County – let’s show them what a great place this is! The students are busy all day – classes in the mornings and field trips in the afternoons. Join us on the field trips – Russian River, beach, ice skating & cartoon lesson, Armstrong Woods to name a few. It’s a wonderful program and my own children have learned so much about the world – things that can’t be taught. Interested in learning more? Email me at denyse.caven@sbcglobal.net
