Rain rain, GO AWAY! Is this really June? And the start of summer vacation? I can’t help but feel a little gloomy as I look out at this wintery weather. Silver lining – perhaps all this rain will keep the allergies away….
Here’s what’s going on over at SantaRosaMom.com this week:
Father-son Look-alike Contest
Remember how fun the Mother-Daughter Look-a-Like contest was? Now dad and son can get in on the fun too! Petaluma360.com is holding a Father-Son Look-alike contest to find the dad and son that look the most alike! Have dad enter a photo, and he might win a professional photo session with Nathan Larimar, a local photographer who does beautiful work. But hurry, because you only have until June 12th to enter your photo before voting begins.
Silhouette artist at Cupcake Boutique
Back by popular demand, Karl Johnson is making an encore appearance at this month’s in-store event at Cupcake, the boutique for baby, toddler, and maternity. This is the perfect way to create a lasting memento even after your children are grown. Be sure to book your appointment soon, though. The popularity of this event will have sessions booked up in no time.
Best and worst end-of-year gifts
There are many VIPs in your child’s life who I’m sure you want to thank as the school year comes to a close. Coaches, teachers, librarians, bus drivers… They have all done a lot to instill lessons and values in your child. And if you’re like me, you rack your brain at the end of the year for what to give them to thank them for all they do. I’ve put together a list of best gifts to give, as well as those gifts you might want to skip. Let me know if I’ve missed any.
End of year scramble
And with the end of the year comes that end of the year scramble. End-of-year parties, last minute projects, graduations, sports…. Are you scrambling to get it all done?
Sports and Energy drinks
There has been a major increase in the amount of energy and sports drinks a child consumes during their day. I admit that I have thought nothing of giving my son a Gatorade occasionally, even when he hasn’t been playing sports. But I had no idea how dangerous that really was. And it should be a concern of yours too, especially when school vending machines still carry energy drinks and sports drinks.
Have a wonderful week, try to stay dry, and I’ll see you on the forums!
