Parades, trains, and art festivals. So much to do this weekend my head is spinning! Here’s my list for best bets for a weekend of family fun:
Veteran’s Day Parade
Friday Nov 11, 1p
Walnut Park, Petaluma
The Northbay’s annual old-fashioned salute to our veterans features a parade that starts and finishes at Walnut Park, plus a flyover by vintage war birds.
Sonoma County Model Railroad Society
Sat Nov 12, 10a-12p
HobbyTown Petaluma (171 N McDowell Blvd, Petaluma)
Help build the HobbyTown railroad layout while learning all about model railroading and working on projects. A perfect activity for train enthusiasts and kids who appreciate miniatures and modeling. This event is held regularly every 2nd Saturday of the month.
Petaluma Holiday Arts & Crafts Faire
Nov 12-13, 10a-5p
Petaluma Community Center (Lucchesi Park)
Handmade crafts that include home decor, gourmet foods, ornaments, toys, clothing, and more. Jewelry artisans will be selling unique styles at reasonable prices. Big Boy’s BBQ will provide great food, and Children’s Museum of Sonoma County will be there with their “Museum-on-the-Go”.
New Parents Hike
Sat Nov 12, 11a-2:30p
Ranchero Mark West (call 524-9318 to register and find location)
Join new moms and dads on an easy uphill hike. Geared towards kids 0-2, the hike is 2-3 miles long.

A joyful street party celebrating the arts and community. Live music, food vendors, a Kids Art Zone and more will be at this festive winter party, as well as the infamous SOFA parade. Costumes encouraged.
